Exhibitions in the Old Church
At the end of January '24, work began on the major restoration of Piet Hein's tomb. During the restoration, there will be a dual exhibition in the Old Church, linking the life and times of the famous seafarer to contemporary themes such as (modern) slavery and exploitation.
Piet Hein: the death of a naval hero
Parallel to the restoration, the Old Church is organizing an exhibition about Piet Hein, shedding more light on the person behind the famous capture of the Silver Fleet. Visitors to the exhibition will delve into Hein's life, his era, and his impact on Dutch history.
The Close-to-Home Show: Daisy Ranoe and IJM on Modern Slavery
For the exhibition on modern slavery, the Old Church is collaborating with International Justice Mission (IJM) and visual artist Daisy Ranoe. From March 18 to September 28, 2024, their exhibition, The Close-to-Home Show: Daisy Ranoe and IJM on Modern Slavery, will be on display in the north aisle of the church.
