Friday October 12 2018 - The Rijssens Male Choir, led by their new conductor Jaap Kramer and the Music Company Excelsior under the direction of Henk Oenema will give a concert in the New Church in Delft on Saturday November 17th. Furthermore, Johan Bredewout will play the piano and Martin Zonnenberg will play the organ.
In 2017 the Rijssens Male Choir celebrated there 90th anniversary. For this occasion the choir has made a concert trip to Vienna, where they gave 2 concerts, one of which toke place in the beautiful Musikverein. Apart from Vienna, the choir has already given concerts in several major international cities, including London (St Pauls Cathedral and Windsor Castle of Queen Elisabeth) and in the European Parliament in Brussels. This last concert was at the invitation of CDA parliamentarian Ms. Annie Schreier-Pierik, also the patroness of the choir. The male choir has almost 140 members, including many young enthusiastic singers. On average, the choir gives about 12 concerts a year; a distinct sound, coupled with a very varied repertoire, makes the choir look forward to a great public interest during there concerts.
The Rijssens Mannenkoor sings, among others, Landerkennung by Edward Grieg, Amigos Para Siempre by A.Loid Webber and the Slave Choir by Nabucco (Verdi).
Music club Excelsior from Wassenaar also has a great reputation. This association has been around for 117 years, but is still a sparkling concert band. The orchestra consists of about 50 musicians, who mostly life in Wassenaar, The Hague and Leiden. Excelsior has been in the 1st division of the KNMO for years and under the guidance of conductor Henk Oenema they still manages to improve the high musical level. The repertoire is very varied; from classical to musical and film music. Likewise during this concert: in addition to music from the musical Elisabeth, Excelsior will perform two famous classical works: "Dichter und Bauer" by Franz von Suppé and parts from "The Polovet Dance" by Alexander Borodin.
Johan Bredewout will play the piano. Johan Bredewout is a versatile musician who is often asked as a supervisor at concerts. In addition, he is also a conductor of various choirs. Reason enough for the real music lovers to not want to miss this concert of these two clubs.
The concert starts at 7 pm, the doors of the church open at 6.30 pm.
